What You Need In Your Closet This Fall

What You Need In Your Closet This Fall

Will the weather please get cooler already? I attempted to wear my over the knee boots the other weekend and about died of a heat stroke. Anyway,  I am just dying to start creating some fun fall outfits and have been in shopping mode. I’ve been trying to only purchase versitile items that I can wear a bunch of different ways. Here are some that I think are a must and will give you so much bang for your buck:

Denim Jacket  – A denim jacket can work with so many things….dresses, tees, sweaters, you name it. I just purchased this one from Old Navy for so cheap.

Over the Knee Boot – I don’t usually buy trendy pieces, but over the knee boots pulled me in. I got these in the Mushroom color. I think they can be so sexy, or they can just make a super casual outfit a little more interesting. I plan on wearing mine with dresses for date nights and over some leggings with big sweaters for work and play.

Leather Mini Skirt – I am loving leather mini skirts and they are so much more versitile then you might think. I would wear mine with a flannel shirt tucked in, tights with a big sweater, or a nice blouse for a more sophisticated look.

Flannel Shirt – I think these are just so chic and cozy. I wear them over leggings, anything leather, and I even have a striped skirt I pair this one with. I also really love this one...paired with some grey leggings and those OTK boots.

Shearling Vest – A great transitional piece is a vest. I love wearing them with casual tees before it gets too cold, and then over blouses and light sweaters in the winter.

Red Flats – Anyone that knows me knows im a huge lover of red flats. I have 2 pair and I wear them with EVERYTHING. My wardrobe is full of earth tones, so I use my red flats to spice it up. I have also been wanting a pair of pink ones.

Flat Mules – I haven’t pulled the trigger on these yet, but I want them! They are on major sale also.

Striped Turtle Neck – I wear mine a million different ways! I particularly love it under a big slouchy sweater.

Here is some outfit inspiration for you!

Friday Five

Holy Lord. Thank God it’s Friday. The last week has been a whirlwind and it’s going to stay crazy in my household until next weekend. For those of you that have absolutely nothing going on right now, I envy you. Enjoy your quiet time. Enjoy your lazy morning and drinking beer on the couch while watching football. That sounds amazing. Anyways, today I bring you five things I am loving lately.

1| Sleep – Seriously though…can this be one of my favorites right now? I have had a really hard time sleeping the last couple weeks. I go through bouts of sleeplessness every so often and I am in one right now. I have no problem falling asleep but then I wake up between 3-5am and can’t fall back asleep. This has happened to me before…quite a few times to be honest. It’s usually stress induced. My brain just won’t shut off. So, to help with this I do a couple things:

a) Acupuncture – This really helps reduce stress and calm the mind

b) Time-Release Melatonin – Just discovered that they make a time release version of Melatonin. Definitely trying this one.

c) This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray – I just got this in my most recent Birchbox. I used it last night and I did sleep better. Heck if your desperate like I am, why not try it?

d) Exercise – If nothing else, this tires me out to the point that I have no other choice than to sleep.

2| Narcos – We are close to the end of Season 2 of this show on Netflix and it is such an intense and great show. If you haven’t watched it yet be prepared for a show that requires you to put down the phone and actually pay attention. The majority of it is subtitled.

capture2

3| Shopbop Sale – This is one of their biggest sales of the year. 25% off ordered under $500 and 20% off orders over $500. I have quite a few things in my cart like these wedge booties and these jeans and these jeans in my cart.

capture3

4| Sephora Holiday Collections – There are soooo many new holiday value sets out at sephora. I am doing my best till I get my VIB Rouge 20% off discount in November. But, patiently awaiting my purchase are this lipgloss set, this highlighting palette and this brush set.

capture

5| Two Cumberland – This is a local boutique that just opened a bigger store in Mt. Pleasant in the Nordstrom Rack shopping center. They have an awesome selection of jewelry and women’s clothing as well as some local flair like the popular CHS hats everyone has been wearing as of late. I bought myself one if grey and my hubs bought me a beautiful, gold lariat necklace with three burnt orange stone and a black druzy stone ring that is awesome. They also have a great selection of hostess gifts. I will definitely be shopping here for Christmas gifts! For those of you that don’t live close by you can shop online here.

That’s it for today y’all! I hope you all have a wonderful, relaxing weekend.

Keep it lush y’all!

Tips for shopping on eBay

My Ebay Shopping tips!Happy Tuesday friends!  I hope everyone has had a great start to their weeks!  Steve and I are working from the office in Charleston this week and staying through the weekend for an engagement party.  We’re really hoping hurricane Matthew doesn’t come this way… fingers crossed!

Today I wanted to share some tips for shopping on eBay like a boss.  eBay can be very overwhelming if you don’t know what to look for so I thought I’d share some of my go to tricks for getting a great deal!

Shopping

  • Search for exactly what you’re looking for.  There is SO much on ebay that it is really hard to just casually browse for a Black dress or something generic.  Ebay is really best for something specific of a specific brand.  For example search “Tory Burch Amanda Cross body” not “Tory Burch Purse”. This will help you narrow down the millions of listings into a few hundred that fit what you’re looking for
  • Use the filters on the left.   Just like on Amazon or other sites, these filters help you really narrow down what you’re looking for.search1
  • Look into the seller.  There are lots of fakes on ebay, you have to be careful who you buy from.  What to look for:
    • Feedback- both the number of feedback (aka reviews) they have and the % positive.  In the example below you can see she only has 39 reviews (meaning she’s probably bought or sold 39 items) but her positive % is 100%.  This to me is a good sign because she isn’t a “career” ebayer.  More likely someone like me to sells items I no longer use.  ebay4
    • Click on the sellers name to get more information about the feedback they’ve received.
    • Item location.  I typically only buy from the US and am especially wary of items from Asia as they tend to have a higher likelihood of being a fake (from my experience at least).
    • Photos.  Look closely and feel free to ask for more.
  • Pay attention to the description of the item. If they sellers says there are defects, make sure you look closely at the pictures. Usually they include the defects but don’t hesitate to ask the seller questions or for additional information.  You want to be as informed as possible when making a purchase on ebay because often times you cannot returnTips for shopping on ebay!.

  • Add to your watch list.  This enables you to keep track of an item without bidding on it.  ebay will notify you when the auction is about to end so you can bid if you still want the item.
  • Pay attention to buying options.  In this example there is an auction and a buy it now option.  Buy it now is similar to purchasing something on any other retail site.  An Auction is a little different and can be tricky.
  • Auction Tips:
    • Determine your top number and stick to your guns.  It is so easy to get caught up in the moment during an auction. your competitive nature kicks in an you just want to win but try your best to stick to your top number, if you don’t win this auction I bet (no pun intended) there will be another purse/pair of sunglasses/dress on ebay.
    • With ebay’s automatic bidding, you can put in your top bid and ebay will actually raise your bid up to that point during the auction.  So for example lets say the starting bid is $95 and you tell ebay your top bid is $120, ebay will make you the high bidder at $96.  Then if someone else bids $110 it will automatically put you as the top bidder at $111 until it gets to your top bid of $120.
    • If the Buy it now price is within your range of what you’d like to pay and you really want the item, going with the Buy It Now option will ensure you get the item.

There is so much to cover but I think those are the most important points!  Please let me know if you have any questions!

Happy Shopping! XOXO

Annie

Fall Items Under $150 with Trunk Club

trunk club

trunk club
Happy Hump Day, friends! I recently wrote about Trunk Club in last week’s Friday Five. Well, I received my first trunk over the weekend and come to you today with a review. In short, Trunk Club is a styling service that is owned by Nordstrom. You are paired up with a stylist who gets to know you and your style and then sends you a trunk of clothes/shoes/accessories to try on and keep or send back. This is not a subscription service. So, you only get a trunk when you request one. The really neat thing about Trunk Club is that your stylist will provide you with a preview of what he/she has chosen to include in your trunk. This is available for you to view once you login to their app. You can approve or decline what you want to be sent. I love this idea! It’s different than all other styling boxes that I have tried out. It’s a bit more collaborative which I think is really fun. They do require a $25 styling fee that will be applied to your purchase should you decide to keep anything from your trunk. But, I think it’s safe to assume that you will be keeping a thing or two.

I told my stylist, Molly, that I wanted to keep everything under $150 and to add some versatile items that I could dress up or down. I think she got it pretty spot on, don’t you? Not to mention almost all of these items are under $100 which is a bonus!

Fall finds!

Hi everyone!  Happy Monday!  It’s officially fall (as of last Thursday) so today I’m coming to you with some of my favorite fall things.

Loft is having 40% off everything so it’s a great time to stock up on some transition pieces like this dress.  Also the orange is perfect for a Clemson game!

Love plaid for fall.  This top is a little different from your typical plaid top and would be cute with jeans and booties.

Atlanta recently opened a Top Shop store in Lenox mall and I checked it out for the first time a couple of weeks ago.  They have some really cute stuff at a very affordable price point.  I purchased this top in Purple but it also comes in black and a deep wine color.

Target is having 10-25% off Home Decor online including all their cute fall things.  Of course I picked up this Pumpkin Candle.  Can’t get enough of pumpkin smell although surprisingly I don’t love Pumpkin Spice flavored stuff.

My mom got this “Juicy Shaker” lip color for herself but didn’t love the color so it got passed along to me.  I’m a little obsessed with it.  The color is subtle but very pretty and it goes on so smoothly.  Its a pigmented oil so its hydrating and also leaves a stain behind which I love.  I have the Watermelon Color and it kind of smells like watermelon.  Love!

Hope everyone has a great start to their week!

Friday Five

Happy Friday everyone! I really needed Friday to come quickly this week. I was having mini- heart racing moments all week. I think it’s because I work in sales and the month is close to the end and I got nothing to show for it. Ugh. But, the weekend is here now and I am ready for some R&R. Today I come to you with my top five things that I am loving right now.

1| Blacklist – This show is sooooo good. Donald and I just finished up watching season 3 on Netflix and the first episode of season 4 was last night on NBC. James Spader is amazing in this show. His character is so on point and fun to watch. If you haven’t seen it and want a new show to binge watch, seasons 1-3 are available on Netflix and season 4 just started so you can DVR!

blacklist

2| Pout Pout Fish by Deborah Diesen – This book was gifted to Charlie on her 2nd Birthday. It is such a cute book and is both fun for Charlie and me to read. The illustrations are adorable and the witty writing is just as cute. It should be a definite addition to your child’s bookcase if they don’t already have it. pout pout fish

3| H&M Home – Is it weird that I just recently discovered H&M has a home department? They have some really cute stuff right now that is perfect for Fall – darker colors, fun prints, soft fabrics. I would love to add a couple of these pieces to our home. Plus they are funky and different and inexpensive. Can’t go wrong!

4| Grey Jeans – I know this is so random; but, I am kinda obsessed with grey colored denim right now. I have been on the hunt to find the perfect pair. I want a lighter wash that is mid to high rise and skinny.  After a ton of scouring, here are the pairs I thought were really cute.

5| Trunk Club – I recently learned about this online clothing service for men and women. In short, you get hooked up with a personal stylist who gets to know you and your style. That stylist then puts together a trunk of clothes specifically for you and ships it off to your home for you to try on. Here’s the cool thing about Trunk Club, they have this online app that allows you to see the items that your stylist chose for you before they ship the trunk. At this point you can approve/decline what you want to be included in your trunk before it’s even sent. They put together outfit ideas to help show you how to wear the items. Once you receive your trunk you have 5 days to decide what you want to keep and then use the prepaid return label to send back the rest. Here’s the best part of it all….Trunk Club is owned by Nordstrom! And hello! Nordstrom has the absolute best customer service ever. So, you know you are going to get top notch service and well-made clothes. I am getting my first trunk next week; so, be sure to check back for more detail and reviews of the items I received.

That’s all I have for you today folks! I hope you all have a great weekend!

Sunglasses I’m Loving All Under $12

While out of town recently , I went into Nordstroms for the first time. We don’t have one anywhere around, so I always just shop online. Well, I absolutely loved it (no surprise there), but I also discovered these amazing sunglasses for $12 and under. I hate spending a ton of money on sunglasses because I lose them constantly, and I love getting really fun shapes and colors that I might only be into for a few months at a time. I picked myself up some of these, but wanted to share some of faves with you guys. Check them out!

Fall Style – featuring Abercrombie

Y’all. Abercrombie is killing it this Fall. The last time I shopped at Abercrombie I was 14 and wishing I had $60 to spend on a zip up, hooded sweatshirt with the huge “ABERCROMBIE” logo all over the front of it. I digress. Abercrombie has gone through a huge revamp over the last year and has spit out a slew of trendy and super stylish items that are perfect for even us 30 year olds. Below are a few items I am lusting after.

Abercrombie

I already purchased a couple of these items like the lace-up sweater and the camo jacket. Both are on point. I have my eye on the high shine anorak and the pleated leather dress for my next purchase.
Keep it lush y’all!
